On Sabbing ...

The title just sounds like a really bad habit, which sabbing actually is, but I was more thinking along the lines of thumbsucking and toenailbiting. Which now totally reminded me of how my little sister [17 not 7] still sucks her thumb when she is bored and is watching tv, I find it kind of gross but she doesn't want to kick the habit. I feel really annoyed by that because my parents made me quit sucking my thumb when I was 12, perhaps a little late but who cares, at least I don't suck my thumb anymore. But in my sister's world anything goes when she approved, so this summer she will be an adult that still sucks her thumb when she is watching tv and is bored, it makes a very nice girlfriend. However, there are habits that are more annoying and with more consequences than sucking your thumb, even though supposedly it stops your thumb from growing. I don't believe that as my thumb is very small and my sister's is not. The habit I am talking about and annoyed with is SABbing.

Perhaps it is not the best translation of sogging, sogging sounds worse than sabbing, although that sounds like stabbing and that can't be enjoyable either.

Sabbing: verb
1. study avoiding behaviour - consciously or subconsciously avoiding any kind of home- or collegework by finding things to do, or by recreating oneself by gaming, watching tv or anything else that the person finds entertaining.

I am the queen of sabbing, I have been watching 3FM Serious Request [glasshouse edition] all morning, now I am writing a blog about it, but I haven't done any studying at all. I am a hopeless case. I can't work when I am not under pressure, even though pressure and stress are things that make me go insane, I need it to work. I cannot work when I am not pressured by time, I need a time limit to work properly because else I will put things off even though I got heaps of things to do that cannot be done in a few days. You can't study three books in three days, that is nearly impossible.

[what the hell, I think my neighbours have told their kids about how an awful people we are because their little son just threw snowballs into our garden. What is the point of that actually, it is add to the layer of snow on our garden path, which is already 15cm, we won't notice. By the way, my father won the dispute but our neighbour just couldn't agree with it so they had to make a compromise, that neighbour is such a self-righteous glasshouse, I just can't believe that people like him exist, thinking you are right no matter what.]

I think I will be off, to not studying, I really need to get studying but my brains just short circuits when I start thinking about it. Instead when I promised myself to just play Prof Layton for half an hour I end up playing for three hours stray and going to bed at 2.30am. I am a special kind of special, the one you don't find in stores. Christmas is really on its way too, are you having fun my dears?

Always your special edition,
Gigi

P.S. [rant] Why the hell have I been counting calories again and restricting like a teenager on a low self-esteem? I love life on a ~1000kcal a day diet, which leaves me hungry all day. In other news, I haven't smoked since last week nor have I had a drop of alcohol at home without my parents watching me drink in two months. Woe is me. [/rant]
