Is it ever a good time to believe in dreams? We all have dreams, we all do dream, whether you dream about having a family of your own, having a bank account filled with money or that thrilling job or beautiful house. We all want something, something that moves us forward, to push our boundaries to get what we want so we can be happy. Dreams are there so we can be happy, so we can move forward towards a goal, towards that dream. For me it's just "any dream will do," as Joseph in the musical would say.
I can't even remember if I ever were the dreaming kind of girl, I think I much preferred to just do my thing and see what happens than to think about the things that might be possible in a far away land or a far away future. All I know is that I find it dangerous to really believe in dream, every time I do believe in a dream it somehow gets smashed into millions of pieces and I am left with nothing but a gaping hole of empty future. Secretly I want to dream but I do not dare to, to protect myself from disappointment that I am sure of will come soon enough.
Would it be any different if I really believed in a dream? Would my negative attitude towards the world be changed if I believed in something I want hard enough that I will be able to fight and cope with everything and still have a positive outlook on life? This question is very two sided, as most things in life tend to be. On one hand it is good to have a dream and to follow a dream or try to make it come true, it gives you something to work towards and give you hope in darker times. It is like the light at the end of a tunnel, a ray of golden sunshine on a rainy day. On the other hand dream can hurt, disappoint you and leave you with nothing at all but shattered bits of dreams scattered over a bathroom floor in a dirty flat. Every time a dream crashes a little bit of hope is lost and if it happens enough you become bitter. Some will recover miraculously from a shattered dream, others don't cope so well.
A dream is like a beautiful, beautiful but could be gone in a second. You will always be chasing it, to have some of its beauty but once you catch it the beauty of it will fade unless you find a new dream or care for the butterfly. When the butterfly dies you will be sad but one day you will find another butterfly as beautiful or even more beautiful than the one before and you will try to chase that one. Just don't get lost in the chase, sanity is hard to come by these days.
