The country has days during spring and summer where it is too cold to just wear a long sleeve or a short one, where you wrap a blanket around you, just to stay warm. Then there are days that no matter how many clothes you take off, it is never cold enough and all you can do is suffer. I have a dislike for summer days, it is not the heat that gets to me, but the moist that makes any warmth unbearable. From 15C and up on a sunny day it feels like a heavy blanket of warmth has a constant hold of you.
So, that is how I end up sitting here in my summer dress hoping that there are no more of these summer days. You could argue like some of my friends might throw in, that we should relax and behave like the southern European folk do. That is just not an option. College does not stop when I take a break because I can't concentrate from the heat. This culture forces anyone to work, work, work and work, it's how we get by. Half our culture is focussed on that. Just look at the small things your culture has, for example, the Brits eat very heavy breakfast in the morning. This was to give the miners and working men strength for the rest of the day, because all they could eat at work was a sandwich. Here with all these farms the only time to have a descent meal at a descent time, was during lunch, this meant that lunch was more like dinner and dinner was just sandwiches, same as breakfast. In some of the smaller towns it still works this way, like my grandma and my dad, who sometimes eat warm during lunch. Old habits die slow.
So I have been working on and off at school, even though it is hard to focus at times and I end up watching tv all day in stead. I feel that I am almost finished, but if I am not done by tomorrow I will have a problem. If I can't deliver these essays by Monday 2pm I fail the classes. I am not too worried, there are only a few little things that still have to be done and with a little effort of a few hours I will be done and ready for tomorrow. Well, that is ready for delivering those essays, I haven't studied anything yet and first thing on Monday is my Concept and Entertainment Industries(CEI) exam about the history and future of the entertainment industry. It is really interesting and not that hard, but you have to get about 80% right to pass.
So yes, my planning is to work till about 2am, get some sleep, get up and work some more till I am finished. Then I will take a break and sift through the powerpoints of CEI to prepare myself for the exam. There is no rest for the wicked. And don't tell me that I didn't plan this well, I did but I can't plan internet time, I can't plan how long somebody else is using the internet or what the weather will be like. My whole body is also reacting to the stress, which I certainly dislike. Whenever I take an exam I want to feel good, because a better self esteem is better grades, but I can't look and feel good when I know I got spots all over my face and my piercings are infected due to low immune system. You might not know it but your immune system generally gets a bit lower when you are stressing. You can argue to not pierce yourself, but it's also my old piercings have gotten infected from time to time this period. I will just have to make piece that I feel like a humpback whale.
