Drifting Words

Drifting Words

The veil of existence is wafer thing,
words never stick to the paper,
voices drift away into emptiness.

Your words of reassurance reach,
not more than my ears,
when I drift into myself.

Bits of pieces fall into my world,
broken, beaten, eaten away,
ready to soar astray.

My eyes close to blacken the night,
blacken the sky, to try,
to float through the sky.

Then there is you, picking me up,
out from the emptiness,
that is my beating heart.

Yet your voice is wafer thing,
your words won’t stay,
your gentleness doesn’t cling.

I meet the edge of sorrow's tear,
to make the emptiness disappear,
to pull me out of this emptiness.

I write words on paper, paper thin,
words that stay, words that cling,
they mean nothing,
they mean,
everything.
