Time Writer - Diary #4

Time Writer – Diary #4
October 4th, 2056

Dear Eliza,

It has been busy days on this ship, after the storm blew over we had to make the necessary repairs before we could fly off to new and unknown worlds that lie ahead. Even I, who has little knowledge of ships, had to help the crew so we could be ready as soon as possible. Everybody was in a rush and at the end of the day, when the sun had set and there was not enough light anymore to see what you were doing everybody went to bed to wake up the next morning and start where they left off. I never knew that working as crewmember on an airship could be so exhausting.

After three days of hard work, bleeding hands and sore shoulders the ship was finally ready to move on. We had a lot of canned food stored in the hold, but we are slowly starting to run out of fresh water and fresh food. I found a few books on edible plants, fruits and vegetables, which will come in handy when we land somewhere.

That night we all sat around the table to discuss the current matters. I thought that those men would never listen to a woman like me, who has lived in a house all her life. Surprisingly they all agree on landing as soon as possible to see if there was anything we could find, food, or perhaps traces of a lost civilisation that has been destroyed and forgotten. Knowing that it started to cool off, the men immediately started searching for the coats and boots that were stored in the hold.

We will be trying to land the ship first thing tomorrow, hoping that the sky is clear and the ground beneath us flat enough. The captain says that first time landing is the scariest you will ever experience on this ship, but I will trust in his skill to put us safely down.

Kind Regards,

Maude Bluebird.
