In the Ashes of my Dreams
I lie in the ashes of my dreams
no longer vibrant, no longer seen,
forever part of what I’ve been.
I carry my past as if it was dead,
the ashes I have not yet spread,
over a withering flowerbed.
I foresee my future’s bleak,
I no longer find what I seek,
I don’t know the language that I speak.
Among the ashes of my dreams,
I find the lies that shaped the streams,
the knives that cut the seams.
I hold my life, with murderers hands,
I go beyond, where no one can stand,
I break the vow that I cannot bend,
I heal the hurt that would not mend.
