Fun Fair Rides Fail

So, basically, we are currently celebrating the second biggest folk festival of the hole low-lands, pay-bas, Dutchland. This includes a taptoo, a fun fair and all kinds of things in the historic setting of Leiden. I tried taking pictures of the fun but I failed miserably.

Beginning of the taptoo, during which several of the traditional celebrational traditions pass in the form of lightened signs, such as white bread and herring.

All sport clubs in Leiden present themselves and do little acts along the way from the Cheesemarket to the City Hall

 

Largest part of all the celebration goodness is the fun fair that spreads all around the big squares.

Even the house where Rembrant van Rhijn had his first workshop is has lit ships in front of it, as always during the autumn and winter days.

This little fellow reminded me of Wind in the Willows

This is what the fair used to be decades ago, it is even situated on the oldest church square in Leiden. Best part was when the power shut down and it became dark.
